While incidents remain limited, we are asking the community to stay vigilant and take simple steps to protect themselves and others.

How to Stay Safe

  • Always ask for identification or accreditation from anyone offering to carry out work on your property. Genuine traders will be happy to provide this.
  • Never feel pressured to make an immediate decision. Take your time and, if in doubt, ask a family member, neighbour, or friend for advice.
  • Do not allow cold callers into your home unless you are confident you know who they are and why they are there.
  • Consider using trusted traders or recommended local businesses wherever possible.
  • Report any suspicious behaviour to Nottinghamshire Police via 101, or 999 in an emergency. You can also contact Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133.

Supporting Our Community

We understand that news like this can be concerning, and we’re highlighting the issue to support our residents in staying safe. Your awareness and prompt reporting can help prevent further incidents and keep our community safe.

If you know someone who may be particularly vulnerable, please consider sharing this information with them.
