A bus stop sign stands next to a street.

Via East Midlands Ltd, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, proposes to create a new enforceable bus stop clearway at the following stop, and as shown on the attached plan:- No Stopping At Any Time, except buses – 19 metre clearway:

  • Chesterfield Road North, Mansfield (MA0066)

Concerns have been raised about the accessibility of the bus stops for pedestrians, and buses being unable to properly use the stops due to parked vehicles. It is therefore proposed to install a new enforceable bus stop clearway, which will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stop at any time. This will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:

  • Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
  • Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
  • Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
  • Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.

Any objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing before 29th August 2025 using the e-mail or postal address at the bottom of the letter. Any details you provide may be shared with Nottinghamshire County Council as appropriate.
