Funding Granted for Improvements to Pencil Park, Meden Vale
An important message from your Netherfield District Councillor David Hughes.

I am delighted to share that Warsop Parish Council has been successful with its application to Mansfield District Council’s Pride in Place Impact Fund for improvements to Pencil Park in Meden Vale. This funding will support the installation of a Multi Use Games Area (known as a MUGA) for ball games such as Football, Basketball and Netball to name a few. This will be installed over the coming months and will hopefully address the issues created following the installation of the SUDS area in the park.
In addition to this, we are applying for funding to improve the pathway and gates around the park, aiding with accessibility and security. We are also raising funds to install planting for a sensory garden in the park. There are good ideas for additional equipment in the park – but this makes a great start.
As District and Parish Councillor for Netherfield Ward, I am keen to establish a new group “Friends of Pencil Park” to build on these investments by increasing use of and facilities in the park. Whilst Mansfield District Council will continue with maintenance of the grounds – grass cutting, emptying bins etc, I want the community to work together to keep it tidy and safe so it can be used and enjoyed by all.
Anyone interested in becoming part of this exciting development for Meden Vale can drop me an email at dhughes@mansfield.gov.uk
