| 2026-83 | Public Participation
a.) Pursuant to Standing Orders, Members of the Public and Press shall have a period of 15 minutes (total) to speak. A Member of the Public shall not speak for more than five minutes. A MOP had attended to voice their concern regarding the recent works undertaken by National Grid on Eastlands/Coggins Lane. They said that the kerbstones were loose and (amongst other concerns such as internet cables and the process for filling the holes) and asked about who was responsible for signing off this work. Cllr D Hughes added that he had requested anti-slip measures for that road, but it was not in the budget and sometimes this was based on accident data. Cllr D Grindley spoke about County Council processes and recharges. Cllr N Hughes spoke about the reporting system online, copying in the County Councillor to emails and the telecommunications labelling. Councillors discussed the right turn width for the new turning near the Ford garage lights. Cllr A Wetton also spoke about County Council process. Cllr A Hawkins highlighted the significant congestion at that junction and there was a discussion regarding S106 monies. Cllr N Hughes proposed that the Parish Council write to Notts CC to complain about the Eastlands Lane work when responding to the item in 2026-93. b.) If the Police Liaison Officer, County Council or District Council Member(s) are in attendance, they will be given the opportunity to raise any relevant Parish Council matter. The Police were not in attendance. The Clerk read out a report sent by County Councillor A McCormack. This included: · A summary of the wildfires in the parish over the summer and his liaison with a farmer who had been affected · Investigations regarding complaints about a resident at Meden Vale – follow up with relevant authorities and Derby City Council · Water leak at Netherfield School · Netherfield Lane school traffic · Burns Lane petition to be submitted to Full Council Thursday District Councillor J Stephenson added: · LGR has been paused and the District Council elections should take place as usual in May 2027. Unsure what will now happen with LGR but it could have been very useful for certain things, in particular a single point of contact for services for residents. · Local Plan -There is a vote this week on the number of new sites to be allocated in the Parish for housing. He expects this to go through and then go out to consultation. The PC can submit a combined or individual comments. His personal view is we must have a Local Plan to protect us however some sites/allocations are oversubscribed. There are not enough provisions in place currently for additional facilities/infrastructure. District Councillor A Wetton added: · It is imperative that the District has a Local Plan, without this it will be a ‘free for all’ for developers. We should promote this consultation to residents as soon as this comes out. There was not much public interest at the last one. Cllr J Stephenson confirmed that comments need to be substantive/valid for there to be more chance of amendments to any allocations – evidence impacts, cite other precedents etc. The Parish Council will promote with posters, website, newsletter, social media and assist where possible. |
